About Doobie brothers and ankle biters
To those who follow my facebook page- you all may have read of the Doobie brothers blasting through the speaker while I baked a fresh Orange cake a few days back. Well- the cake has been long baked and gone but Doobie brothers (DB for now) haven’t stopped singing since.
While most people are listening to soothing music at night or are clearing their chakras while meditating for a good sleep, I am listening to DB on my earphones. And loud. Loud enough for the baby to start tossing and turning. Yes, the baby who takes over an hour of coaxing to go to sleep.
In the quietness of the morning, at 5.30am, DB are singing. At the carpool lane at school, they are again on. They are even singing to the baby as he reluctantly opens his mouth for that spoonful of khichdi.
Addiction to music is nothing new and hopefully this this too shall give way to some other artist but for now- they are very much singing all day long. To the extent that the older one is humming the song instead of his usual sesame street!
Sometimes I feel that it is just not a plain song, but it brings such wonderful memories of the times gone by. So I am not just plain addicted- I am perhaps re-living those younger, carefree days.
Speaking of addiction- there is one more in our household right now.
The.Baby.bites.the.ankle.all.day.long.
Just like the DB- he is at it the first thing when he wakes up. And when I am hurriedly cooking. When I am trying to read something. And even as I write this blog. He is onto his biting spree. Visitors are not spared either and I am already feeling worried about our dogs, who we will be visiting really soon. I am now really hoping that just like DB will someday give way to another musician and memory, the same way hopefully (soon) our ankle-biter will find greener pastures (pun intended).
There is so much in the world that one could bite into- carrots, apples, bread, cabinets, teethers- yet I feel that just like me, he is enjoying this moment too much to think of moving to something else!
